Searching for that perfect beach in the Bahamas... 🏝

What is your definition of a perfect beach? For me, it's one that's uncrowded, with soft white (or pink) sand, and crystal clear blue-green water.  The only sounds are of the gentle waves, the breeze and the birds. The Out Islands of the Bahamas 🇧🇸 is filled with those perfect beaches. I have made it my mission to check out as many of them as I can. It's a lot of work but someone has to do it! 🙋🏾‍♀️

Stocking Island, Exuma

Our first taste of the Out Islands was over a decade ago when we visited Eleuthera and Harbour Island. Eleuthera is a thin and long island that is blessed with one unspoiled beach after another. Harbour Island is much smaller than Eleuthera and is known for its pastel homes and its long pink sand beach along its eastern shore. 🌴〰️🌴

So those 2 islands are why we became obsessed with the Bahamas. The following year, we headed to Staniel Cay which is located in the Exuma Cays. We stayed in a cute cottage at the Staniel Cay Yacht Club. The cool thing about staying there is that a 13 ft boston whaler 🚤 comes with the rate which allows you to explore the many uninhabited cays nearby.

Long Island (not NY's!) was our next Out Island trip. If you ever make it there, you have to check out Dean's Blue Hole which is the world's deepest blue hole with an entrance below sea level. Swimming by the hole is a little freaky 😱. Long Island didn't disappoint when it came to perfect beaches and brilliant blue water 💦.

Cat Island (I love that name) is in the Central Bahamas. The house we rented was on a lovely crescent-shaped beach. We could have stayed at the house the entire time, but we forced ourselves not to as we knew we'd miss out on other great beaches. 🏊🏾‍♀️

Great Guana Cay in the Abacos was another relaxing trip. We also rented a house on a beautiful beach. The sea was a little rough the first couple of days but we woke up one morning and it was perfection. ☀️

Of all the beaches I've been to in the Out Islands, it's hard for me to pick a favorite. However, I will say that Lighthouse Point on Eleuthera was breathtaking. A couple of the islands (Harbour Island and Great Guana Cay) were a little more touristy than I expected. I do enjoy the unexpected 'discovery' of a beach by boat or car. And I very much enjoy the solitude that comes with not sharing one with anyone else 😏. So, what is YOUR perfect beach? 🏝
